Company enables secure, high-capacity connectivity on US-Mexico routes and into Central America through MDC partnership
Arlington, Va., September 10, 2024 — GTT Communications Inc., a leading global provider of secure cloud networking solutions for multinational organizations, has announced the expansion of its partnership with MDC Data Centers, a leading provider of carrier-neutral data centers serving traffic between the U.S. and Mexico, through the deployment of a new Point-of-Presence in MDC’s data center in Laredo, Texas. The new site expands GTT’s global Tier 1 IP network reach, and adds redundancy to its network near the Mexican border, offering customers with growing business bandwidth demands an additional choice for resilient networking and security solutions between the U.S. and Mexico, and into Central America.
According to analyst firm GlobalData, the Mexican ICT market is growing at a compounded annual growth rate (CAGR) of over 11% from 2023 to 2028.1 The expanded partnership between GTT and MDC underscores the strategic importance of Laredo, Texas, as a major terrestrial connectivity hub between the U.S. and Mexico.
“With traffic streams growing rapidly between the U.S., Mexico and beyond, flexibility and access to high-performance connectivity is key for our customers operating there,” said George Kuzmanovski, Chief Operating Officer, GTT. “Bringing the Laredo MDC data center onto GTT’s Tier 1 IP backbone adds crucial redundancy options for Dedicated Internet and IP Transit for our joint customers, complementing our existing partnership at the MDC data center in McAllen, Texas.”
“GTT operates one of the largest internet backbones in the world, and expanding our relationship reflects our shared commitment to providing superior networking solutions that connect the U.S. and Mexico,” said Joel Pacheco, Head of Revenue, MDC Data Centers. “Our Border Connect Platform™ is instrumental in this collaboration, offering unmatched connectivity through its International Fiber Crossings, data center colocation and robust networks ecosystem. This synergy with GTT allows them to deliver scalable, high-performance network solutions from our data center, supporting the increasing demands of the market.”
GTT offers its full range of network and security services from the Laredo PoP, including IP Transit, Dedicated Internet and Managed DDoS Protection.
